The newly laid out park has been constructed in the old dry dock of Helsingborg’s shipyard. Although the largest part of the dock has been filled in, its typical form is still visible by means of the protected park area. Besides a large greenspace and waterfall with sea water, there is a jetty and wooden deck with steps leading down to the water, walkways and lawns for sunbathing on. The old shipyard crane in the park has been transformed into a landmark for the entire district.

The jungle playground is located in the southern part of the park and its play facilities have been purpose-designed for the location. As the lighting solution, light planning bureau WSP Ljusdesign from Malmo selected Selux Olivio medio from the Sistema 3 design line. The poles have been custom designed with a special varnish and the luminaire heads colour-matched to them. One bright-green luminaire is reminiscent of a huge plant for example, while another, a combination of bench and light, resembles a giraffe, with the pole painted in a yellow and brown pattern. With its distinctive organic design, Olivio fully supports the playground theme.

Both park and playground constitute extraordinary places for encounter for both locals and visitors, which respect the history of the place and are reference it. All in all this makes for an attractive location that has been constructed with locals, visitors and – last but not least – families with children in mind.
