Redesign of the public space around the Arkéa Arena
Floirac, France
Located just outside Bordeaux, in southwestern France, the town of Floirac is currently undergoing a major urban transformation along the banks of the Garonne River. As part of this redevelopment, the public spaces connecting the Pont Simone-Veil to the Arkéa Arena have been redesigned to create a new metropolitan destination combining infrastructure, pedestrian circulation as well as event spaces.

For this project, whose lighting concept was designed by the lighting design agency Les Éclaireurs, Selux supplied Line Square illuminated columns, the square-section variation of the Line family. Installed throughout the plaza linking the bridge to the Arkéa Arena, these luminaires help structure pedestrian circulation while reinforcing the site’s contemporary and minimalist identity.
The choice of Line Square addressed several key objectives: providing visual comfort for users, ensuring clear spatial orientation during major events hosted at the Arena, while maintaining a restrained and elegant nighttime atmosphere. Thanks to their clean geometry and minimalist design language, the columns integrate seamlessly into the architectural composition of the site without competing with the surrounding infrastructure.
The lighting installation contributes to both safety and wayfinding, especially on concert nights when the esplanade becomes an active gathering and circulation space for thousands of visitors.
With this project, the Line Square range once again demonstrates its ability to meet the demands of contemporary urban developments seeking aesthetic coherence, high lighting quality and discreet integration within public space.
