LED lighting concept for more safety and well-being in the residential quarter

Project

Cité Toray

Saint-Maurice-De-Beynost, France

Saint-Maurice-de-Beynost is a commune in the Ain department, located 15 km from Lyon. The Cité de la Soie, a workers' town, was conceived in 1928 as a progressive place of residence that served the well-being of the population working here. The apartments were ultra-modern and comfortable for the time. Over the years, the factory remained but changed its activity. In 1996, Rhône-Poulenc was finally bought by the Japanese group Toray. The former Cité de la Soie was given the name "Cité Toray." The Toray Films Europe plant, which specializes in the production of plastic packaging, is now the largest company in the municipality and employs nearly 500 people.

To reduce energy consumption for outdoor lighting, the city of Saint-Maurice-De-Beynost opted for LED technology, which is already mature in the public lighting market. In the Cité Toray housing estate, the public lighting was completely renewed with Tessia from Selux France. Thanks to this new luminaire, it is now possible to reduce the lighting level in the middle of the night, maintaining a certain level of safety for residents while further reducing energy consumption.
