Park at Gleisdreieck

Berlin, Germany

This area at Gleisdreieck is located in the Berlin districts of Kreuzberg and Schöneberg. In the past, it was the site of the Anhalter und Potsdamer Güterbahnhof (Goods Station) while later on the area, which covers an area of 31.5 ha, was left barren. In 2008 a competition was announced by the Berlin Senate Administration for Urban Development for redesigning the area. This was won by the landscape architects Atelier Loidl. Between 2011 and 2014, the Ostpark, Westpark and the Flaschenhalspark were opened in turn. The result was a green space and recreational site with extensive grassed areas, isolated groups of trees and several woods.

Sports and games areas, relics depicting the history of the site and wide, barrier-free asphalted paths for cyclists and skaters have made the park a popular destination for day-trippers. The lighting concept for the individual park areas has been realised using Selux Olivio luminaires. Olivio Candelabra with bent poles and Olivio Floracions in various heights, with 3 to 7 heads, emphasise the park’s urban nature.
