Smart Charging And lighting

Life in smart cities: Charge + Light by Selux

Charging stations rather than petrol stations — in urban environments, public charging stations for electric vehicles are increasingly in demand. To help create a charging infrastructure over a sufficient wide area, Selux luminaire poles are converted from pure lighting structures into all-round smart systems. Charge + Light, charge point and luminaire pole are fused into one.

Universal pole/charging station

The Selux pole/charging station blends perfectly into all urban environments — as a harmonious element in historical town centres or with modern styles of architecture.

Light pole meets charging station

Selux luminaire poles can be pre-fitted with charging stations for electric vehicles simply and at low cost. The charging station is integrated directly on the pole to enable electric vehicles parked in front of it to be recharged.

Mounting options

Installation directly on the pole

The charging station is secured to the luminaire pole with bolts while the connecting cable is integrated into the pole housing.

Installation with an adapter rail

The charging station is bolted onto an adapter rail that is clamped to the pole. The connecting cable for the charging station is then routed through the adapter rail. This installation method is particulary suitable for existing poles that are already in place since there is no need to drill holes in to the pole.

Use in public spaces

Charge + Light systems or separate charging stations can be installed in urban spaces such as residential or commercial streets or public parking areas.

Use in semi-public spaces

For use in car parks at hotels, supermarkets, leisure facilities or local authority facilities which are publicly accessible.

Private use

Can be installed in private parking spaces, car ports or garages.

Technical fittings

The smart charge controller in Selux charging stations allows communication and IT backend integration. An integrated smart meter enables simple connection to the public electricity grid. The charging socket is also fitted with shutters to protect it from vandalism and dirt/water ingress.

Authentication via RFID card

Vehicle drivers can be identified using an RFID chip card if required (Radio-Frequency Identification): The card is simply held against the relevant symbol on the charging station.

Authentication via smartphone

Drivers without an RFID card can also access the charging station using their smartphones by simply scanning in a QR code on the side of the charging station.

Display and control elements

Is it yellow, blue or red? Flashing or constantly illuminated? The LED light ring shows the the charging station's current operating state. Display and control elements are simple and intuitive to understand.

Charging using AC current

The Selux charging station is equipped with a standard port (type 2 charging socket) for electrical vehicles for single-phase or three-phase AC current charging. Multi-phase charging speeds up the charging time. Conventional charging capacities are between 3.7 kW (single-phase with up to 16A) and 22 kW (three-pase with up to 32A). The charging time for an electric car depends on various factors such as the battery capacity and its charge state, the vehicle´s charging equipment, the type of charging station and how this is equipped.
