A new interdisciplinary research and teaching institute for law and economic sciences has recently opened on the university campus in Frankfurt. The new ´House of Finance´ building is a tribute to the architecture of the company headquarters of I.G.Farben, built by Hans Poelzig in 1931, and today houses part of Frankfurt´s Goethe University. The front facade and building elevations have a unique grid design with strictly symmetrical axes - a theme also taken up on the floor, walls and ceiling of the foyer. This is further mirrored in the lighting concept for the space which emphasises the effect by following the structures inherent in the room itself. In the lecture theatres and library/reading room areas, special air-handling M100 recessed luminaires were used.
