The former docklands area in the east of London is interlinked via an innovative, driverless urban train known as the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The DLR network stretches over a total of 31 kilometres and comprises 38 stations. The five new stations on the extended DLR section to London City Airport – West Silvertown, Pontoon Dock, London City Airport, King George V and Woolwich Arsenal have been fitted with linear luminaires that are specially developed for transport applications. These have been installed as platform lights and as a lighting system for the winding staircases. Protection class IP 65 ensures both lamp and reflector are protected from dust and dirt. This extremely robust light tool from the Selux range of transport luminaires is particularly suitable for applications of this type where luminaires are exposed to high levels of pedestrians and constant usage.
