The health industry is a growth market. In recent years in Germany, a hospital infrastructure has been established that is modern, premium-quality and yet at the same time economical. Glauchau District Hospital, where a new ward has been added to create a total surface area of around 90,000 m², is a good example of this development. Among other areas, the new building is home to the Departments of Inner Medicine and of Ophthalmology.
Yet the lighting in the corridors and waiting rooms is a far cry what one would normally associate with a hospital atmosphere. For corridor lighting, slim, flush-mounted light channels of various lengths have been used in an offset, asymmetrical arrangement. The friendly, calming mood radiated by the entrance area will assuage any fears visitors might have on entering the hospital. Rather than just catering for the lighting needs of day-to-day hospital life, the lighting here also contributes to creating a comfortable environment for both patients and employees.
