Set in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, Woodstock, New York, has a worldwide reputation as a center for the arts. So when the Woodstock Children's Center, the area's leading alternative children school, needed a new arts building, its architects had a lot to live up to. The client wanted a building that was flexible, beautiful and energy efficient. And, they wanted the best possible interior lighting. Controlling energy costs was also critical, so efficient lighting was important.
The architects chose the Selux Artec Mini luminaire to do the job. Developed with co-funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA), the luminaire uses energy-efficient T5 lighting technology. High performance reflector and shielding systems offer superior illumination using a versatile combination of indirect and direct illumination for both general and task lighting applications.
"We wanted to get away from institutional-style classroom lighting without sacrificing energy savings," Tom Pfeffer, overseeing coordinator for the project and a parent at the school concluded, "And the Selux Artec Mini was the perfect solution."
