The Alexander Hamilton US Customs House was recently re-illuminated and received a Lumen Citation for exterior lighting of a historic façade. The US Customs House, located in the center of lower Manhattan, was originally established in 1907 by the Fifth Act of the First Congress of the Unites States. The US Customs Service was placed under the direct supervision of the first Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton.
Today the building houses several occupants including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indians on the first three floors as its main tourist attraction. The building celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2007 under new beautifully accenting lighting provided by Selux Corporation.
The owner’s request for the new lighting of the building was to reduce energy consumption and ease maintenance while at the same time maintaining the historic and architectural integrity of the Customs House. Lighting designer, Randy Sabedra from RS Lighting Design, chose Selux PRO22 floodlights to beautifully illuminate this grandiose historic site.
The SILL PRO Series Projector Floodlights from Selux offer the specifier the first class flood/spot lighting technology and are available in a comprehensive range of lamping configurations and beam patterns. Sill PRO20 and PRO21 series lights are also available in multiple configurations with the Cardanic system (see link to the left).
