Bicyclists in the city of Madison, WI have enjoyed an array of paved bicycle-only pathways for some time. Recently, Selux partnered up with MGE (Madison Gas & Electric) to provide new Solar lighting along several miles of those paths, making bicycling through Madison increasingly enjoyable.

There were a total of 37 Selux SonneLITER fixtures installed. They were chosen for their ease of install, innovative solar technology and superb 32W compact fluorescent lighting capabilities. It is now one of the largest solar lighting installations in the U.S. MGE owns and operates solar hot water and PV systems to study their economic benefits and technical performance.

SonneLITER offers breakthrough technology in that it is the first photovoltaic powered luminaire that can run a T6 metal halide lamp! SonneLITER comes with up to two solar panels and marine grade sealed-gel batteries; it also includes a programmable controller which regulates energy flow between solar panels, batteries and lamping. The SonneLITER is environmentally friendly and a cinch to install.
