The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. This 1974 villa was beautifully transformed by the Boston based firm, Machado and Silvetti, into a reconstruction of the Villa dei Papiri, Pompeii. In keeping with the classic architectural theme, lighting designers selected an exterior fixture that not only was low maintenance, but was of a design worthy of the site. For that, they selected a custom torch fixture – in bronze – designed and manufactured by Selux.
The simple, clean style of Selux “MTR Columns” blends in well with the locale – a replica of an ancient excavation site.
