MTR Columns grace historic Gold LEED certified site!

7 World Trade Center is the first major building to be completed in the redevelopment of the World Trade Center Site in NYC. A pioneer in the new era of conscious sustainability, the 7 World Trade Center was selected for “Outstanding Achievement / Exterior Lighting” by Architectural Lighting Magazine, and received a 2007 Lumen Award of Excellence. It was also the first office building to receive gold LEED certification in New York City.

The 52 story building stands 741’ tall, and restores the path of Greenwich St. through lower Manhattan. Built with an abundance of safety and green features, Efficient design was used to create an environment with low energy use and high productivity. Selux MTR Columns were chosen to grace the entrance plaza of 7 World Trade Center, beautifully illuminating the fountain and Jeff Koon’s Balloon Flower sculpture.

The Selux MTR Column is a perfect integration of the light column form with the Selux patented MTR refractor technology. MTR refractor systems were specifically designed to incorporate the light-bending properties of prisms so that more light is distributed into optimal angles resulting in "glare free" illumination. Three distinct column styles are available in a variety of materials and finishes. The MTR Column was an ideal choice for this high trafficked modern site.
